Not our privateness!

Our privateness, including finances, has become the subject of scrutiny by states, direct or indirect (through private companies), with or without any reason. For instance, when transferring money abroad through banks or money transfer systems, how many of us consider monitoring our transactions by the authorities of at least two countries? Do we ask ourselves if it is necessary, and what can be done to avoid it legally?
